David C. Lee Joins Insight Communications Board of Directors

New York – July 01, 2004 –

Insight Communications Company, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICCI) has named David C. Lee to its Board of Directors, announced Sidney R. Knafel, Chairman of the New York-based cable operator.

Lee has nearly 18 years of experience in the media, communications and technology industries. He has served in senior positions with leaders in the financial community, including as a managing director of Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, founding partner of Saturn Venture Partners, LLC, managing director of Sandler Capital Management and managing director of Toronto-Dominion Bank. He currently serves as senior managing director of LLJ Capital, LLC, a specialty finance and advisory firm focused on the media and communications industries which he founded in 2003.

“We are delighted to have David join our Board of Directors,” said Knafel. “His background and expertise with media and telecommunications companies will be enormously valuable to our company.”

Lee will replace Daniel S. O’Connell of Vestar Capital Partners, who resigned from its Board. O’Connell stated, “We are very pleased with the results of our Insight investment and have been a strong supporter of Insight since our private investment in January 1998. As a manager of private investment funds, we determined to sell our holdings in Insight in order to rebalance our fund portfolio. While it has been a pleasure serving on Insight’s Board these past years, with no remaining financial stake in Insight and in accordance with Vestar’s policies, I have decided to move on. We continue to believe enthusiastically in Insight, its management team and its vision.”

Other members of Insight’s Board of Directors are Knafel, Michael S. Willner (President and CEO), Dinni Jain (Executive Vice President and COO), Thomas L. Kempner (Chairman and CEO of Loeb Partners Corporation), Geraldine B. Laybourne (Chairman and CEO of Oxygen Media) and James S. Marcus (retired partner of Goldman Sachs).
