Restore Default Security Levels in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer has many security features to help protect your computer while you’re browsing the Internet. However, configuring the settings incorrectly may prevent certain Web pages from displaying on your computer. Insight Broadband only supports the default configuration of Internet Explorer, and the process below describes how to restore Internet Explorer to the defaults that were set at the time of software installation.

If you need additional support for configuring Internet Explorer in a "non-default" setup, you will need to contact Microsoft directly for support.

To reset Interet Explorer's default security levels, follow the steps below:

1. Click the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop to open IE.

2. Click the Tools in the menu bar at the top of the IE box.

3. Click the Security tab at the top of the Internet Options box. Click each of the icons in the Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings box, and then click the Default Level button near the bottom of the Internet Options box to restore each setting to its default level. See the graphic below, which has the areas to click boxed:

4. Click the Privacy tab at the top of the Internet Options box. Click the Default button near the middle of the Internet Options box to restore each setting to its default level. See the graphic below, which has the areas to click boxed:

5. Click the Advanced tab at the top of the Internet Options box. Click the Restore Defaults button. After you have gone through the Security, Privacy, and Advanced tabs and restored the defaults, make sure to click the Apply button, and then click the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Options box.

As stated above, Insight Broadband can only support Internet Explorer in its default configuration. Any other configurations or questions should be directed to Microsoft.
